The former Blackburn Funeral Home Estate, which was built around 1907, has gone
through many transformations over the years. It was originally built as a single-family
residence by A.C. Clements, a well renowned businessman of this time in Joliet.
After his wife, Georgia passed away (believed) in the home in 1918, A.C continued to live
in the house with his daughter Laura C. Beltzner and her husband August.   A.C. Clements
died in the home, on April 27, 1929 but his daughter continued to live there with her
husband and two children until the home was eventually sold to Mr. and Mrs. Ayola in 1950.
In 1953 the home was converted into the Ayola Rest Haven Home. The retirement home
was closed in 1965 by the state due to (alleged) deaths, neglect and abuse.

Some of the paranormal activity that has been experienced here includes unexplained
sounds and disembodied voices.  There are also light anomalies, shadows, & sounds of
footsteps walking down the hall, as well as visual and physical encounters. Some of these
we have captured with evps and photos, you can check them out on
www.intothenightparanormal.com . These all have been experienced not only by the
homeowners and friends, but also by many paranormal investigating groups.  Come see
for yourself!!!
