PARANORMAL TERMS
We have put together a list of paranormal terms, that we
will update periodically. Our goal is to educate people and
provide an insightful understanding of paranormal and
spiritual matters.

ORBS - Spherical anomalies of light that may be recorded on film or video. Orbs have rarely
been seen by the human eye, and are often associated with haunted locations.
APPARITION - The formation or appearance of a person that is deceased. May be seen solid or
as a mist or transparent. Apparitions have also appeared to people surrounded by light. Often
referred to as a disembodied spirit or soul.
COLD SPOT - An area that suddenly changes in temperature, and becomes colder. Typically
thought to be evidence of the presence of a spirit.
AMULET - An item believed to protect you from evil. This can be anything from crystals to a
chain with a cross pendant.
EMF Detector - Electromagnetic Field Detector / A device used by paranormal investigators to
detect the presence of electromagnetic fields in investigations. It is believed by those in the field
that the spirit energy is surrounded by electromagnetic fields, just as it once was when alive.
Ruling out other sources that may also give off these readings, before an investigation is very
important. Example of other sources affecting EMF readings are, power lines, microwave ovens.

HAUNTING - A ghostly presence that is associated with a specific location or person.
A SENSITIVE - A person that has the ability to see or sense the dead. A sensitive individual may
also be able to pick up on events, scenes, items, and feelings related to a paranormal
